letter delivered 8 years too late

Letter arrives eight years late

An undelivered letter took eight years to travel just two miles across a city.
Staff at a Sunderland legal firm were stunned when they were also asked to pay a £1 charge for the late letter.

The letter was sent by recorded delivery to one of the firm's clients in January 1997, but was returned as "not collected" by Royal Mail.

Royal Mail said it is willing to launch an investigation into the delay, but added it could not speculate as to the reason for the hold up [...]
